2023 tEAMS & cOACHES

7u - lUTZ & 8u - lUTZ: jOHN lUTZ

Coach John Lutz, our program director, will be leading both the 7U and 8U teams for the 2023 season. Lutz was drafted right out of Thomas More High School in 1983 by the Kansas City Royals. After three years at the professional level, Coach Lutz returned home to Milwaukee, WI, where he continued to play. Coach Lutz played in multiple area-leagues, one of which his team captured 13 league championships along with division titles and grand championships. In 2009, Coach Lutz was inducted to the Old Time Ball Players Association Wisconsin Baseball Hall of Fame, alongside his father and some of the best baseball players, coaches and pioneers of America’s Pastime from the Badger State. Following his playing career, Coach Lutz, turned his passion into developing and coaching Milwaukee’s youth full time. He has been fortunate to coach so many players but most meaningful, his son, Jack, who continues to share the same love and passion for the great sport of baseball. Coach Lutz is looking forward to the opportunity to develop our youngest two teams and build the foundation for further success within the organization in the years to come.

Coach Eric Ebert has served as a coach for the Milwaukee Angels for the past seven years. When Eric isn’t at the facility or on the field, he works as an educator in the area and has coached multiple sports at both the youth and high school levels for over 15 years. Eric works hard to help players better understand the game through multiple positions and regular hitting drills and practice. Most importantly, Eric’s goal is for players to develop positive work habits, learn the qualities of being a great teammate, and develop a love for the game of baseball through a structured and competitive team experience.

Born and raised in Oak Creek, Wisconsin, Coach Mike Jacobson will be a head coach this season for one of our 9U teams after assisting at multiple levels in the past few years. Jacobson has previously been an assistant coach at both Oak Creek High School and with UW-Whitewater. Mike was a part of many successful teams including multiple high-school state championships and a NCAA National Championship at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. After college he signed with the Kalamazoo Kings as a pitcher. As both a position player and pitcher, Mike knows all about the game. While he spends most of his time coaching the next generation about the game, you can still find Mike playing the game himself. He hopes to “develop well-rounded baseball players that enjoy playing the game as much as I enjoy coaching them.”

Back for more in the 2023 season, Coach Dmitri Nokovic will lead one of our 10U teams. Nokovic has spent the last two years coaching within the organization, with both the Milwaukee Angels in 2022 and the Midwest Halos in 2021. Nokovic has years of experience on and around the diamond. After a successful high school career at Milwaukee Hamilton that included all-conference recognition, he attended school and competed for three successful collegiate baseball programs across the state of Wisconsin. He joins us with experience coaching in the Land O’ Lakes baseball league over the past four decades and has been a part of many young athletes’ journeys as a coach of Baseball America Camps in the early 2000s. Nokovic explains that he’s, “dedicated to teaching young kids the fundamentals of baseball, teamwork, dedication, and persistence.” We’re excited to see the growth that our players have with Coach Nokovic again this year.

A familiar face in the area, Coach Kevin Kehoss will manage one of our 10U teams for the 2023 season after a successful campaign in 2022. Kehoss joins us with decades of coaching experience. He currently is the head coach at Pius XI Catholic High School, where he’s won over 400 games, including a 2011 WIAA State Championship. After a 2018 Woodland Conference Championship season that included a school-record 30 wins, Kehoss was named the Woodland Conference and WBCA State Coach of the Year. Coach Kehoss' knowledge of the game and ability to teach are what sets him apart from most. Kehoss will continue to help develop young athletes in the same manner he does at the high school level, of which he describes his program as “a fundamental, hard-working, and discipline program.”

Coach Nick Abbrederis will lead one of our two 11U teams this upcoming season a role as an assistant coach in 2022. Nick played four years of varsity baseball at Cudahy High School, helping lead them to three conference championships and the school's first ever state tournament appearance. Nick was recruited to play both college football and college baseball before ultimately deciding his brightest future was coaching baseball, a game that provided him with so many positive experiences. Nick found himself helping coach at his alma mater before stops in Bay View, as well as in Franklin. Nick continues to work with athletes throughout the Midwest, advancing his coaching skills and his ability to get the most out of every athlete that he works with. We're excited to see Nick take a step forward as a head coach with us for the 2023 season!

11U - schilling: jeff schilling

New to the Angels this year, Coach Jeff Schilling will be heading up one of the 11U teams. Jeff is a graduate of Muskego High School, where he competed in multiple sports. After high school Jeff competed collegiately as well as in Land O’lakes for Muskego for multiple years. Jeff’s passion for athletics expanded into coaching where he has coached and led youth sports teams and programs at various age groups. Jeff is excited to bring his knowledge and enthusiasm for baseball to the 11U team in 2023. Coach Schilling believes in hard work, reinforcing the fundamentals, and teaching the game to our young players. “You need to understand the game to be your most successful playing it”. Please welcome Jeff to the Angels family!!

Back for more baseball, Coach Ty Ramirez Sr. will be on our staff for the fifth consecutive year after previously helping coach for a few years in the program nearly a decade ago. After his playing career ended, Ramirez Sr. has really enjoyed helping young athletes learn the game of baseball. When he’s not with the Milwaukee Angels, Coach Ty enjoys helping players with their development and recruitment in the high school program, the Midwest Halos. We're looking forward to having Coach Ty help represent #AngelsNation!

A former Milwaukee Angel himself, Coach Logan Rezash is excited to be back within the program. Logan serves as the Director of Baseball Operations for both the Milwaukee Angels and Midwest Halos and will be working with all of our athletes as an instructor, with in depth knowledge surrounding the catching position. Coach Rezash will also lead one of our 12U teams during the 2023 season. Throughout his playing career, Logan and his team traveled the country against some of the nation's top talent. Logan had the opportunity to play under two of our own, Brian Johnsen and Mark Bombien, at Greendale High School where he was awarded the 2016 Woodland Conference Player of the Year. He spent the last four years playing at the collegiate level, at both McHenry County College and Lindenwood University. Over the course of his career, he was always a leader on the field and often a captain named in the clubhouse. During his final season, he was named Lindenwood University’s Scholar Athlete of the Year. We’re excited to have Logan back as a part of our program!
